When given a complete set of data and trying to replicate the initial results they failed. There was no fiscal benefit to austerity the data proved that.

Austerity is an ideological choice to knowingly and wilfully force people into unnecessary poverty, to the inflate the incomes of people already rich enough to not need any more money.

Remember this when Labour try to push the virtues of balancing the books under cover of this blatant lie.

As an autistic trans person living in the UK who runs a fact-checking blog on Tumblr, I feel like I'm probably contractually obligated to talk about the Cass Review. The report and the media reaction to it has hit me hard, and I think I'm going to find it hard to focus on anything else for at least a little while. I'm about half way through reading the review, and I'm doing my best to look at it from an objective standpoint rather than an emotional one.

Right now, there are a lot of angry people - and I should know, because I'm one of them. But I want to channel that anger into something productive, so I've decided that I will be making my own review of the review, expanding the studies that were included and including the ones that were not, as well as evaluating the recommendations given by the report. I have no idea of the time frame for this, but given the length of the report it is safe to say this is going to take a while. I intend on keeping this blog running throughout, but given that I have a limited amount of time and energy reblogs may slow down.

Obviously, this is quite a big task, and unlike Hilary Cass this is not my day-job, so I would really appreciate all the help I can get. If any of you have any expertise in this field (or have contacts who are), I would love to hear your opinions on the Cass Review. A more general call goes out to anyone with knowledge of any research that were not included in the Cass Review, or any background on those that were.

Anyone with sources, research or even just opinions/personal stories (whatever view you take on the review) is welcome to contact me. I will be keeping my inbox open to anonymous asks, and checking all of the reblogs of this post and any updates I give.

To my trans siblings in the UK: stay safe out there. I love you.

TL;DR: Send in studies, sources or personal responses to the Cass Review as I will be collating a response to the report!

This probably sounds harsh, but cancer to a member of the royal family isn't like cancer to the rest of us

They have access to the best medical care available, nothing too expensive, nothing off limits

To the rest of us, poor common folk who have to rely on a smashed to pieces national health service, getting diagnosed early with cancer is basically a death sentence for many

I only hope she's not martyred into an inspirational survivor or some shit when she's inevitably better, as yeah it's likely still scary for her but she's being treated in the lap of luxury with 24/7 care. The rest of us get cancer, and we still have to go to work

this is pretty much what I’ve been saying everywhere. I have a lot of empathy for anyone going through cancer but ultimately not all in the same boat.

My dad was 48 when he lost his battle. He never stood a chance as he was left/misdiagnosed for almost a year and his care was nothing like her experience will be.

TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️ sensitive topics covered as well as references to self harm.

I was moved to my present address for my safety after being stalked, harassed and assaulted by a council tenant.

The police did nothing after I reported him beyond a virtual slap on the wrist by a PCSO (and people wonder why women don’t report these crimes) and the council did equally nothing to safeguard me.

It took two years to get me moved and only after I went to the government ombudsman, and revealed to my housing officer I was a rape survivor, was anything finally done.

A council manger, Paul Hadley (since retired I’ve been informed) said to me that it was my fault, that I must have been doing something to encourage him and in front of an antisocial behaviour officer present that the council were “not responsible for their tenants behaviour” and proceeded to deny me any safeguarding.

That’s not quite true. The reporter behind the story, Daphne Caruana Galizia, was murdered.

whatisthisplaceidonteven

  • After mass protests, the Prime Minister of Iceland was forced to resign, along with many other members of the ruling party.
  • After mass protests, the President of Pakistan was forced to resign, along with many other members of the ruling party.
  • Worldwide, hundreds of people – many rich and powerful – were arrested.
  • Billions in stolen assets were returned to the people.
  • And 82 countries changed their laws to crack down on the wealth hoarding the papers revealed.

To say the Panama Papers accomplished nothing is an insult to Daphne Galizia’s memory. Her work, and the work of the hundreds of other journalists who contributed to the Papers, changed the world.

Disinformation like this is designed to discourage you, to make you feel you’re powerless against the monsters of the world. They want you to feel that way, because they are terrified of your power to make change.

Take your power back. Demand better. Keep fighting for a better world, because a better world is possible.
